Crapberry

What does your cellphone say about you?. Mine says "wide, but lean, shape turns off some". Yes I sometimes call it a Crapberry but I admit I really can't do without it. Even if I'm not a "go-go-go, white-collar executive" but I do get Blackberry Separation Anxiety when I forget it in one room when I'm in the other. I use it to Twitter, Facebook, check Gmail and pop3 mails. In Dutch I call the thing zwartebees, which could be regarded as a somewhat loving nickname. By the way, can you guess what the most downloaded wallpaper is over at Crackberry.com?

Tweetmeme: can it get more meta than this?

If you're eager to know what's going on in the Twittosphere but you're either too lazy or too busy, you should add Tweetmeme to your RSS feeds. No wait, no time for that either. Currently very hot: Cheeseburger in a can (for campers) and the FAIL blog (for pics about those times when the world fails, again).

O RLY?

I've been co-author in a number of books before (like this one) but now I thought it was time to bring out my own. I kind of like the cover - it has a certain O'Reilly factor.

I just made my own Jackson Pollock painting and I'm pretty pleased with the result. But no clue where the little heart on the left hand side came from.

Where is a book before it is born?

From The Book of the Lover: "This book and I have become indivisible. I have placed my feet on this book's last pages, confident of standing so much higher in the world than I ever stood before."
From The Books of English film director Peter Greenaway]'s [1996 movie] "The Pillow Book": "the poems, originally written in Japanese, were not translated in the film, and deserve to be known. They were based in a book of a Japanese courtesan called Sei Shonagon, who lived in the 10th century (Heian dinasty)."

Chris Dusauchoit on Bulgaria's abandoned children: will Belgian politicians react?

Flemish radio and tv personality Chris Dusauchoit watched the BBC documentary Bulgaria's abandoned children last Monday on national tv and is now calling out to Belgian Parliament to do something about the apalling situation in a children's care home in Mogilino, Bulgaria. Following the completion of the film, the production team offered the Bulgarian Embassy in London the opportunity to comment on the findings made in the course of filming the documentary. As a result, a team of Non Government Organisations (NGOs) is working with the [Bulgarian] government to bring about changes to the lives of disabled children growing up in the state institutes.

Finally! A decent virtual pizza builder

Domino's BFD (Big Fantastic Deal) - BFD Builder: You can choose from a registered BFD below or create and name your own. Either way, as soon as you order, you got 30 minutes."
You might call the 1995 Sandra Bullock movie The Net a bit weird or even plain bad (imdb user rating: 5,5/10!) but because of many things, like that ultra cool online pizza interface, it's one of my all-time favourite movies. Got the virtual fireplace in the iMac, too. Only thing that is missing in my house is a barking dog for a doorbell sound.

The future of masturbation is here, now!

If you're looking for a somewhat mysogynistic nickname for your girlfriend, here are a few ideas: Deep Throat Cup ("unparallelled tightness", "slurping sound"), Soft-tube Cup (includes "the ability to squeeze out after ejaculation"), Rolling Head Cup ("with the adoption of a flexible body"), Double Hole Cup (has a "Bitter Side" and a "Sweet Side"), and the fascinating Air Cushion Cup ("never-before-experienced clinging sensation"). 2geeks1keynote

While everyone is counting down to Steve Jobs' Macworld Keynote, me and my favourite geek are preparing for a cosy 2geeks1keynote evening in my living room. @applefanbe will probably livetweet it and we're planning to mess around a bit with all the possible feeds and backchannels we can lay our hands on and record it. Now all we need is some Italian pizza and Belgian beer and we're all set.
UPDATE: from an internet point of view, the MacWorld keynote was a non-event. Just when probably thousands of mac fans and future switchers were eager to join the conversation, Twitter went offline. So did the video streams we were counting on. Annoyed by this communication outage, the two geeks went offline and spent some off-grid quality time. God forbid there would ever be a world-wide catastrophy... because all the modern technology we take for granted would become totally useless in minutes.
UPDATE 2: The Steve Jobs 90 Minute Keynote in 60 Seconds video. Or re-enacted by bunnies, as you wish.

The hidden meaning of my name

What Clo Means
You are very open. You communicate well, and you connect with other people easily. You are a naturally creative person. Ideas just flow from your mind. A true chameleon, you are many things at different points in your life. You are very adaptable. You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow. You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily. Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is. You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life. You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you. At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

Love the concept! But you better not eat crackers in bed, then. Those slits would get full of crumbles...

I’m giving up something much harder than that.” On January 1st, Borkowsky will attempt to ring in 2008 with a lot less ringing, as she officially turns off her cell phone service for sixty days, becoming America’s first advocate for moderation in cell phone use." A short history of the future of the internet

Internet Society (ISOC) All About The Internet: History of the Internet (Last revised 10 Dec 2003): "If the Internet stumbles, it will not be because we lack for technology, vision, or motivation. It will be because we cannot set a direction and march collectively into the future."
UPDATE: Review of the decade: the internet @ Guardian Unlimited: "We'll remember the decade from 2000 as the time when it stopped making sense to think of the internet as an "information superhighway", or even as a "parallel universe", because it became just another way, albeit a staggeringly powerful one, of being human."
